If you're a detail-driven professional with a pulse on tax codes and a passion for continuous improvement, this role gives you the runway to grow and influence in an exciting, global industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of preparing and filing a diverse range of state and local tax returns-severance, property, sales/use, income, excise, and more.
  • Own the accuracy and timeliness of tax payments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Be audit-ready-maintain clean, organized records that support financial and compliance reporting.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for state and local tax audits, confidently managing inquiries and crafting smart responses.
  • Stay curious: proactively research changing tax laws, and turn insights into actionable strategies.
  • Keep an eye on legislation affecting mining tax obligations-and advise the business accordingly.
  • Collaborate on automating tax workflows and refining systems for better speed and accuracy.
  • Introduce best-in-class practices for tax tracking, forecasting, and reconciliation.
  • Partner with teams across finance, operations, and external advisors to enhance efficiency and reduce exposure.
  • Dive into special projects-from international tax support to planning initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (CPA or EA is a definite plus).
  • 2-5 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably with exposure to natural resources or mining.
  • Solid grasp of state/local tax regulations-especially severance, property, and sales/use taxes.
  • Skilled in tax accounting under IFRS or GAAP.
  • Experience with SAP and OneSource Tax Provision? Even better.
  • Curious, collaborative, detail-obsessed-and ready to bring your tax expertise into a fast-paced, high-impact role.
